Fly Me to the Foon Fund: Oakland School for the Arts

At Oakland School for the Arts, the funds are used to support students in the Instrumental Music Department through scholarships. The scholarships are $2,000 each and are awarded to four students each year, two from the middle school and two from the high school. The awardees can use their scholarship money towards private music lessons, a new instrument, or both. The scholarship committee is made up of teachers and administrators from Oakland School for the Arts, one member of the Foon family, and the fund manager from the East Bay Community Foundation.

The Foontastic Music and Arts Fund: Montessori Family School

At the Montessori Family School the funds are used to buy new instruments, to grow the music program by offering more time for students to study music, to bring guest speakers and artists to teach various musical styles and genres, and to support musical field trips to nearby venues, exposing students to the rich and diverse musical scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. The funds are also used to support the Theater program. The funds are managed by the Director of the Montessori Family School and the Arts teachers.
