Foontastic Fundraiser 2021
Thanks so much for being part of the fundraiser. We feel honored that you are joining us this year.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 4 years since Neel passed away and we are grateful to keep his memory alive through this event.
This year the concert will take place on Sunday, June 27th at 4pm.
It will be virtual, and streamed online. In 2022, we plan to be back at the Freight & Salvage live for the 5th Anniversary show.
In addition to submitting a music video for the fundraiser this year, we are asking if you’d also submit a separate video that we can use for our social media publicity. We’ve included a list of questions below that you can choose to respond to for this video, or you can share something about your artistic experience that is not in the questions.
We also ask that you tag us #foontasticfundraiser @foontasticfundraiser on your IG posts (or send us short video clips) of you practicing, creating, talking about music, etc. that we can post to our IG to promote your work and our event.
Submission Deadlines:
Social Media Video: response to one of the questions below is due mid-late April (or as soon as possible), and should be no more than 5 minutes long.
Music Video: of your performance is due on June 1st. Your introduction should be no more than 2 minutes and the performance can be up to 5 minutes.
Short Video Clips: for us to share on our social media pages can be submitted at any time. You can also tag us in these clips of you practicing, creating, or talking about music at any time.
All videos can be saved HERE,
or you can email them directly to geniefoon@gmail.com
Technical Details:
NO VERTICAL VIDEO - landscape only please!
Most current phones are perfectly capable of recording most situations including audio unless it is really loud rock n roll - just make sure sound is clear and you have good lighting, or mood lighting if that is what you are going for.
If using a Phone (vs camera) to shoot, use the back camera for higher quality video
Shoot your video while facing a light source (a window, a lamp, etc)
Do not have a light source behind you -- it will cause back lighting (and we won’t be able to see you well!) - again, unless that is really what you are going for.
If you can get a hold of better equipment especially for capturing the audio (especially bass) part - for example recording off of the mixer is great.
HD resolution is fine, 1080P is preferred, but 720P ok. No need for 2k or 4k/UHD as we will probably down sample to make sure it streams well.
MP4 or Quicktime MOV are best streaming formats but any H264 will do.
Make it as expressive and as beautiful as you can.
Questions for Musicians:
Here is the list of questions we're going to ask musicians to respond to if they want to. You can respond to any one, a combination of several, or something else you'd really like to share.
Take us on your journey through music. Who were your major influences and how did they inspire you? What type(s) of music in particular ignited your passion? What are you working on now? How has your style evolved?
What are some of the hardships you’ve encountered during your musical career? How did you approach these challenges and what did you learn about yourself in the process? What were you able to create musically as a result of your struggles? What drives you to keep going?
How do you incorporate your music into your everyday life? How does your music reflect who you are and what you believe in? How does your music empower you? What made you decide that music would be your way of connecting to the world?
If you played music with Neel, how was your experience of him as a musician and artist? What were the things that he brought to music that you appreciated?
Can you describe your personal experience when you create music?
